Don’t Judge this Book by its Cover

So on top of being so very excited that my talented husband has just posted his first book for the Kindle, I am also psyched about having the cover I did for him posted. Yep, my very first book Cover. I was so worried about working on it when he asked me to do it for him, I’m more of a Character kinda girl, I like to drew people mostly. But even though it did not turn out exactly how I had envisioned it…and it sorta came out looking more like a bear paw instead of a wolf's…I’m pretty happy with how it came out. I think it complements the feel of the book fairly well. You Kindle owners that read his Book will have to let me know if you agree.

If you are interested in reading my husband’s Book…and you should be because it’s awesome…here’s the link to Amazon.

I'm so Excited I'm Extracited! :D

SOOOOO EXCITED!!! My amazingly talented husband Seth, has just posted his 1st book! He has been writing short horror stories since he was a teenager and finally made the leap to novel. The book is a Werewolf story, but if you are looking for the love-sick-four-legged-fuzzy-tweens of the Twilight books, just keep on moving. There are no cuddly puppies in this story. Just Blood, Action and a pinch of the old myths and legends behind werewolf mythology.
Perhaps I’m a bit bias but I couldn’t put it down, it is a great read with likable characters and equally as likable villains…or unlikable rather :)
You can find his new book “Friedkin’s Curse” on Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/Friedkins-Curse-Werewolf-Terror-ebook/dp/B006NQBHWU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324512368&sr=8-1
Check it out and Please leave a comment and let him know what you thought of it.

Thanks for reading everyone and Merry Christmas!

Retro Blog…Dec. 21st 2007 :)

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how lovely are your branches…

That’s because of all the Art on them. Yes, I said art. No I haven’t had too much eggnog. :P

The Christmas tree is the ultimate expression of oneself, just like art. That’s why no Christmas tree is the same. When I decorate my Christmas tree, it’s just like when I sit down to paint. The tree is my canvas and the ornaments are my brush. Each piece makes the whole picture and when I’m done its art. Even if it’s lop-sided and there are too many of the same color glass balls hanging together, it’s still my masterpiece. It’s not art that only one person can make, everyone is a Christmas tree artist. Merry Christmas!

Thanks for reading and have a Happy Holiday!

The To-Do List that just won’t stop growing!

I have a loooong To-Do List this month, Working on two commissions, Starting on my husband’s book cover, Doing my sister’s annual Christmas Card…This one is gonna be CUTE! I’m hoping to finish a few more pieces before the Holidays get here and if I have time I would love to update my cafépress store with my new art. I have needed to get this done for some time and have been dragging my feet like the lazy artist I am LOL.
And Last but not least submitting my Art to Spectrum and keeping my fingers crossed they accept me this year.
http://www.spectrumfantasticart.com/about.php
Spectrum is about to release their 19th Artist Book now and I have been submitting my work to them for about 4 years so far…I’m getting very used to their rejection but as always I’m just gonna keep submitting until they accept me :)

This has been such a busy year for me but it’s also been very exciting because I’m getting so many new people enjoying my work.
Now if I could just get more hours in a day it would be easy sailing for me…expecting the longer days any time now.

Anyway keep checking my blog for updates on my newest pieces. Thanks for reading!

So far I only have about 4 and they are all shades of green for some reason but I can Hopefully post them in enough time for people to give them a new home before Halloween is over. I really should’ve started sooner. But I’ll be following those up with some Winter holiday Dragons…So excited to get started on Christmas ones Heeee! Anyway have a look at my newest little guys and tell me what you think.

The Great Pretender

I can not believe I forgot about these two little darlings…maybe because they are smaller than their Myxie sisters. Just added my Angel and her little Pretender pal to Etsy. These two go together but if you want one more than the other, they are sold separately :)

Time Flies

I am amazed by how many things you can make with polymer clay. I’m currently working on a commission Myxie and I was trying out a few different wing styles for her. I’m really liking the green ones because she will have a earthy/mossy theme and those look almost like leaves.

So glad I got this commission because it has given me the inspiration I needed to get back to sculpting, so as soon as she is done I will get to work on some new pieces…I’m thinking ornaments, just in time for the holidays! :D

GET BACK TO WORK!

I know I know, it took me long enough right but I finally got all my Sculptures in my Etsy Store….just in time for me to start making some new ones…oh boy. I AM looking forward to getting back to arting, though usually I go on hiatus after Dragon Con is done because I’m normally burned out on Art work. But No-Can-Do , every time I take a break my Etsy store gets cleaned out and I have to rush to fill it back up before the holidays so this year I’m not taking a break…ugh this should be fun. Okay Enough gripping, how about them new Myxies eh?

Until Next Year D-Con

Whelp Dragon Con is over. Each year I meet so many interesting people, half of them I don't ever know what they look like under their costume, but still so much fun to converse with so many different characters. Had a great time at the Art Show. Got to meet Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell EKKKKKK and won 3rd place for my Charity Auction piece...very exciting! Don't worry, I will post a photo of it :)
Can't forget I also got to hang out with a bunch of my favorite artists at the show, Mark Robinson, Josheph and Donny Corsentino...and a bunch more. A few of my pieces found new homes and ALL of my baby dragon pals found new mommies and daddies but for everything else, I will have it up on my Etsy store soon. Thanks to everyone that came to see me at the Art Show and I can't wait to do it all again next year!

The Angel on my Shoulder is a Devil!

Here are my last two Myxies until after Dragon Con…Haven’t come up with a good name for then yet so I’ve just been calling it The Angel and the Faker. One is a devious little pretender. Her fake wings and halo don’t completely hide her red horns and tail so she isn’t fooling her Angel acquaintance.
These two are slightly smaller than my recent Myxies, they are closer to the size of my season two Myxies, reaching only about 3 inches.
So what do you think of the little scene I’ve created?

She's Done!

Oh Boy! She Death is all done, finished her up last week and took a few Photos…they aren’t great but I’ll post better ones once she comes back from the Photographer. I’m quite pleased with how she turned out, Very different from the Picture she was inspired by which makes me think I should probably come up with a different name for her…Nothing comes to mind though.

She Death was my last Auction Table Gallery piece, now I just have two little Myxies left and a few dragon pals for the booth and I’m completely finished and ready for Dragon Con…which is coming up very soon, Can’t wait to see you all there!

Stop complaining and get back to work!

Finished sewing She Death’s cloak last night. I used a dark brown for the fabric instead of traditional black, I thought it matched better with the gold on her clothes and Scythe. She actually came out looking like she is part of a Greek Mythology but she still looks really neat. Plus my husband said the Reaper was quite prevalent in most Greek Myths so I’m just going to say I purposely made her like that ;P
Her cloak was a bit of a tedious task because my little sewing machine wasn’t wanting to cooperate so I had to do it all by hand. The cloak is only about a 12x12 piece of fabric but it was still a good 3 hours of stitching…ugh not fun on my fingers.
Her Scythe was no picnic either. Since it is thin it was difficult to sculpt on one side without smooshing the other, so I was forced to continuously flip it back and forth so one side didn’t end up flat…still kind of happened that way though…doesn’t look bad so I’m okay with it. :)

Anyway, She Death should be completely finished tonight so I will hopefully have photos for you Monday, until then, I’ve posted a Photo of her Scythe for you to check out.

Sep. 2nd -5th mark it on your calendars People!

Wow, only a few more weeks until Dragon Con. I can’t believe how fast this year has gone. As always I had a huge pile of ideas that I was going to have done before the Art Show…and You guess it, I only completed about half. I should start making the list and then immediately cutting it in half, that way I’ll finish my entire list each year…Not a bad plan actually. :P
Despite all the ideas that will have to wait until next year, I do have a lot of great pieces lined up for this year’s Art Gallery. Three pieces I’m particularly excited about are my Steampunk Centaur, Masquerade Myxie and my She Death Sculpture that I am currently finishing up. These along with a few smaller Myxies will be displayed on the auction table in the Dragon Con Artist Gallery. I will also have a booth where I will be selling art prints and my new additions, Mystic Pendants. The Pendants are just something I tried out for fun and they’ve been a big hit.
Anyway I’m gonna get back to work so I can have everything ready for when it gets here in just a little over 3 WEEKS EKKK!!!

Masquerade! Polymer Faces on Parade!

EKKKK! I FINIALLY finished the Masquerade Myxie I’ve been working on and I’m sooo Pleased with how she turned out. From her Top Hat and Masquerade mask to her Glitter filled bustier, I am LOVING this one. Even though she didn’t come out exactly the way I imagined, which they never do, She still is my favorite Myxie this year. I was originally going for Victorian Show girl and she came out more like Lady Gaga’s Fairy sidekick…but heck that works for me. So I hope you all like her, I plan to have her displayed in the Dragon Con Art Show Gallery so make sure to stop by and check her out.

If you follow me on Face Book you probably have already seen these little guys but I’m posting much better photos for you today and if you haven’t seen them yet…well, enjoy the cuteness :)
My Little Dragon Pals! I recently changed up the original design of my Dragons, don’t worry, I didn’t change them much. This new batch is wingless, has new bead eyes and instead of the traditional beak, they have a little snout. I think they are cuter but then again I’m a bit bias with my creations.
Anyway, I hope you like the little guys!

Goth Myxie

Almost done with another Goth Myxie I’ve been working on, much like the Tim Burton inspired Myxie I did with the spider web wings. This new one is all black and white with a handmade dress and polymer clay hat. I am so pleased with how she is turning out. To give you all a little sneak peek I’ve posted a picture of her tiny dress.

Tip my Hat

Steadily working on some brand new polymer clay sculptures for Dragon Con this year. I have a few Photos to show you all today. One of the pieces I’m really excited about is a Masquerade themed Myxie complete with Mask, Feathers, Glitter all that jazz. I spent all week figuring out what I wanted to do with the Mask and then putting it all together. Then last night I worked on a top hat to go with the Masquerade Myxie and two more hats that go with Myxies that aren’t quite ready to blog about. Incidentally, I love sculpting polymer clay hats…Perhaps my next project should be a certain Hatter whom is quite Mad Hmmmmm? :D

Death waits for no Man…cause She is impatient.

The first day I spent 7 hours sculpting a body (not including the head) that is about 6-7 inches sitting down, about 2 and a half times the size of any of my Myxies. Because the body was larger then what I normally work with I had to bake it in sections. Started with the torso and after baking it for about an hour I added the hands and feet, then baked it for another 2 hours. The second day I spent 6 hours sculpting skulls, and let me tell you that was hard. Sculpting a face is much different then sculpting a skull, it took me few tries before I got it to look right. Now that I’ve told you about some of the work that has gone into it, I will tell you what the heck I’m talking about…
So I have this picture I did about hmmmm 4 years ago, it’s of a Female Grim Reaper. I call it She Death…real original I know :P Anyway I liked the concept so much I decided to turn it into a sculpture. The picture has Death leaning against a pile of skulls, unfortunately I couldn’t get her to stand cause she is heavy and my oven is small so her head would’ve touched the top so I have her sitting on a pile of skulls. She will be one of my Dragon Con Gallery pieces and I can’t wait to show her to everyone. She is far from being done but I do have a few progress/detail pictures to show you. What do you think so far?

P.S. sorry about all the naked Myxies...I haven't had time to put clothes on them yet, SHAMEFUL!!! LOL :P

Steamtaur...No How bout Centapunk....Steamhoof?

YAY I’m happy with the way my newest piece the Steampunk Centaur is coming along. I really impressed myself with the mechanical horse body. Using silver and orange polymer clay, it’s easy to make the clay look metal. I used nails and beads to hold it together and just to make it look neat. The painting and sealing is all finished and all that’s left to do is add hair and other small details. I also made her a cool polymer clay crossbow but haven’t quite figured out a way to make her hold it soooo still trying to do something with that piece..but it looks cool :)

As soon as I complete her I’ll send her off to the Photographer for some better photos but this fun piece will Not be for sale on my Etsy store. My Steampunk Centaur is a 2011 Dragon Con Exclusive. She will be up in the Gallery for the lovely Convention attendees to enjoy.

Where’d you come up with that Idea?

About 3 weeks ago I started working on a piece, it was sort of an experimental project. I was trying to combine sculpting and wood and other mixed media to create a 3D picture effect that would no doubt blow the minds of everyone that laid eyes on it and that is exactly how it came out…in my mind but in reality it was a big weird mess. I just couldn’t get it to look right. So after starring at it for about a week trying to figure out how to fix it, I finally decided it wasn’t working and I needed to scrap the idea. But since I had already put work into sculpting a cute Steampunk girl sculpture that was meant to be the center of the “project”, I ripped her off the bit of wood base she was attached to so I could use her for something else…but what? She had no legs and no arms and I didn’t think my fans would be interested in seeing a Myxie torso. After mulling over my options for about 3 hours, it hit me…an idea, not the Myxie :P I’ll make her a Steampunk Centaur! Spent all last night sculpting her cool mechanical looking polymer clay arms and I plan to get started on her mechanical horsey butt this afternoon. Soooo excited, I can’t wait to see how she turns out, she has been sitting so patiently on my art desk for 3 weeks now and FINALLY she will have a body…needless to say she is very excited too :)
She looks very naked and bodiless right now but I will take some photos as I go and post them soon.

A Few More Pendants

Hello,
I’ve finished a few more pendants. I’m cranking them out a little slower then I was but that’s just because I’ve started work on some of the gallery pieces for Dragon Con. I only have about 5 more pendants and then that will probably be it for a few months so I can finish some more Myxies.
Okay so in this group I’m blogging about today I tried a couple of cute fuzzy creatures. A fox with a little maple leaf in his tummy, like a Care Bear Heehee, and a cute white Squirrel with a Clock. Then there’s my FAVORITE one I’ve done so far, a lucky Frog. The Frog is all cute and fat, with green, blue and gold coloring, you just have to love him. :)
So What do you think?

Time for a Shout Out!

This talented artist’s pixies inspired the style of my original Myxies, since then my sculptures have taken on a style of their own but her amazing work will always be one of my favorites. The unique creations of Gossamer Glen are by Marchella, and her work is truly enchanting. The faces of these sculptures are incredible. Her sweet, whimsical Fairies seem to have a personality all of their own. Her sculptures are all handmade, one of kind, polymer clay pieces. LOVE THEM!

What's that you got there?

Hey peoples!
So I’m still cranking away at the Polymer Clay pendants. I’m just enjoying making them so much, I can be creative but they take up a lot less time them my Myxies do…don’t get me wrong I love making my little big-eared babies but they take Hours sometimes days so it’s nice to whip out something crafty in a shorter amount of time. I’ve also been having immense amounts of fun incorporating a bit of Steampunk into a few of them. It’s easy, just add a few clock gears and/or screws and Vola! Steampunk! Okay I’ll stop yapping and let you all Check out what I’ve done so far…I’m sure you come here more for the pictures anyway. :)
