It's the Poinsettia I'm trying to Make here... :D

Hello Art Fans!
Another Year has flown by already and it's that wonderful time again. Time for another Christmas Myxie Ornament! I have been making these beautiful Myxie ornaments since 2013 and I don't plan to stop the tradition in 2018 :)

The theme for this one was Poinsettia, my favorite Christmas Flower. I couldn't be happier with how she turned out.

So since I have spent several years walking my readers through my sculpting techniques and we all gotta get back to our Christmas shopping, I am going to walk you through this one fast, using mostly images. Cause I know you all just wanna see Pictures anyway LOL You'll be able to keep up I'm sure. :)

Sculpt Polymerclay around a wire frame. 

Add legs and arms. 

Make a face :)

Sculpt neck , hands and ears, then bake. 

Paint the Face and Body. 

Make a cute Festive Outfit. 

Add Doll Hair, I used long brunette curls for this classy lady. 

All Done, lots of angles.

Gingerbread Cookies Anyone?!

It's that time of year again, time for my Annual Christmas Myxie(mystic pixie) Ornament. Number Five.

Annual Christmas Myxie ornaments 2013-2016

This year's Christmas Myxie Ornament is gingerbread themed. I had a great time making little gingerbread men cookies to accessorize her out fit.

Can't eat these tasty looking treats. 

For the Myxie, I usually start off by forming a wire frame, sort of like a skeleton for a sculpture. Then I start sculpting the torso from the shoulders to the knees around the wire. Then I sculpt the legs from the knee down, feet and arms to the elbow, these are then added to the torso.
I usually sculpt the head and face next, attaching the head to the wire frame and sculpting the neck, forearms and hands last.

Now my piece is completely sculpted, time to paint the details to my Gingerbread Myxie.

Can't forget to paint her sweet tiny shoes.

I hand sew each tiny garment. Hand crafting her a perfect outfit to match her personality and theme.
After finishing her clothes, I give this bald little darling some hair. I add the polymer clay gingerbread cookies and some fun candies to her hair-do.
Now she is ready for her frosted wings, I specially handcraft them for her using craft wire, plastic and some polymer clay made to look like icing adds the finishing touch.

Lastly I sculpt her a little wooden spoon with some icing on it for her to hold. 

ALL DONE! The 5th annual Christmas Myxie ornament is complete and looking festive...and tasty. :)

Making Endora the wild Forest Myxie

This curious creature is a wild little Forest Myxie. She spends her days hiding in the trees and playing small pranks on unsuspecting travelers that might pass her way. Try to catch her if you can but her free spirit can never be tamed. 
I held a fun contest last week to find a name for this sweet little Myxie. I got such a great response and she received a fun new name Endora.

So now I bet you are wondering how she was made? You know you are. :D
Using polymer clay, I started with her head. The face is usually the most difficult part because you want to get it just right so the personality of your creation shows through. Eyes are first and then the nose and mouth.

 Next I sculpt her torso, upper arms and legs. Her hands and feet are sculpted separate and added at the mid way point during baking. Then her head is attached and her neck is added and baked.

After she is completely sculpted, details are painted on her face, body, hands and feet. 

For her wings I used skeleton leaves that I glued together and cut into the desired shape. The wings were attached to craft wire and then glitter and feathers were added. 

Now she is ready for some clothes and fun hair. For her outfit I used small strips of fabric to fashion a small shirt and skirt. Some reddish yarn/doll hair, combed out, makes for a lovely wild look. 

Endora is all finished and ready to frolic in the trees. :)
