Sep. 2nd -5th mark it on your calendars People!

Wow, only a few more weeks until Dragon Con. I can’t believe how fast this year has gone. As always I had a huge pile of ideas that I was going to have done before the Art Show…and You guess it, I only completed about half. I should start making the list and then immediately cutting it in half, that way I’ll finish my entire list each year…Not a bad plan actually. :P
Despite all the ideas that will have to wait until next year, I do have a lot of great pieces lined up for this year’s Art Gallery. Three pieces I’m particularly excited about are my Steampunk Centaur, Masquerade Myxie and my She Death Sculpture that I am currently finishing up. These along with a few smaller Myxies will be displayed on the auction table in the Dragon Con Artist Gallery. I will also have a booth where I will be selling art prints and my new additions, Mystic Pendants. The Pendants are just something I tried out for fun and they’ve been a big hit.
Anyway I’m gonna get back to work so I can have everything ready for when it gets here in just a little over 3 WEEKS EKKK!!!

Thanks for reading!

Steamtaur...No How bout Centapunk....Steamhoof?

YAY I’m happy with the way my newest piece the Steampunk Centaur is coming along. I really impressed myself with the mechanical horse body. Using silver and orange polymer clay, it’s easy to make the clay look metal. I used nails and beads to hold it together and just to make it look neat. The painting and sealing is all finished and all that’s left to do is add hair and other small details. I also made her a cool polymer clay crossbow but haven’t quite figured out a way to make her hold it soooo still trying to do something with that piece..but it looks cool :)

As soon as I complete her I’ll send her off to the Photographer for some better photos but this fun piece will Not be for sale on my Etsy store. My Steampunk Centaur is a 2011 Dragon Con Exclusive. She will be up in the Gallery for the lovely Convention attendees to enjoy.

I’m working hard on brand new pieces so keep checking my Blog for updates, Thanks for reading!

Where’d you come up with that Idea?

About 3 weeks ago I started working on a piece, it was sort of an experimental project. I was trying to combine sculpting and wood and other mixed media to create a 3D picture effect that would no doubt blow the minds of everyone that laid eyes on it and that is exactly how it came out…in my mind but in reality it was a big weird mess. I just couldn’t get it to look right. So after starring at it for about a week trying to figure out how to fix it, I finally decided it wasn’t working and I needed to scrap the idea. But since I had already put work into sculpting a cute Steampunk girl sculpture that was meant to be the center of the “project”, I ripped her off the bit of wood base she was attached to so I could use her for something else…but what? She had no legs and no arms and I didn’t think my fans would be interested in seeing a Myxie torso. After mulling over my options for about 3 hours, it hit me…an idea, not the Myxie :P I’ll make her a Steampunk Centaur! Spent all last night sculpting her cool mechanical looking polymer clay arms and I plan to get started on her mechanical horsey butt this afternoon. Soooo excited, I can’t wait to see how she turns out, she has been sitting so patiently on my art desk for 3 weeks now and FINALLY she will have a body…needless to say she is very excited too :)
She looks very naked and bodiless right now but I will take some photos as I go and post them soon.

Thanks for reading, keep checking my Blog for updates!

It's GO TIME!

Wow Dragon Con is only a few days away. It is going to be very exciting this year. I have a Ton of new stuff. I have done about 20 new pictures that will be for sale in the Art Gallery. They are all original paintings and scratch art. I also have brand new Myxies for the auction. Including a few “special” sculptures like a Centaur and Harpy. I’ve got some prints of my newest PhotoShop pictures that I have been blogging about, they will be at my table along with new dragon sculptures. I’m a little nervous this only being my second year in the Dragon Con art show but I’m really excited to see the turn out. I’ve been working really hard to get everything prepared and now It’s GO TIME :P
It would be super awesome if you all came by to check out my booth…or just to say HI, I will be there for 4 DAYS so you can stop by to see how I’m holding up :) Thanks to all of you who take the time to read my crazy blogs and I hope to see you all at the D-CON!!!

P.S. I’ll be out of town for about a week and before that I don’t think I’ll have much access to a computer so it’ll be a little while before you hear from me again…I know it’s heartbreaking :P but I will tell you all about it when I get back. Wish me Luck!

I'm Myxielicious!

Hey!
So I finished the paintings I was working on for Dragon Con and have started on brand new Myxies. It has been about 6 months since I have scultped anything so I'm feeling a little rusty. The 1st one I worked on took me 6 hours to sculpt compared to my normal 4-5. Also I find myself having to start over a bit more then normal. But I have only finished a few, I plan to make at least 12 to 15 in all so I will have plenty of time to pratice. But I'm not just going to make my traditional Myxies the goal is to have a large verity of mythical creatures to sell at D-Con. I plan to make a few pans, mermaids and maybe something new that I haven't tried before like a Centaur. I don't know how well it will work out yet and it depends on how much time I have.
I have been taking a few photos while I sculpt my Myxies that I was planning to post for you all, but alas my computer is still acting crazy so no photos today.
Keep checking my blog for updates on what I'm working on for Dragon Con.

Tootles!
