Snow White Framed Sculpture

I've been slowly working on a new piece, it's also a fairly new concept for me too. Framed Sculptures. I have only done two before and they were about half the size of this one, so I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out...
Started by making a Polymer Clay Sculpture and some polymer clay apples, roses and little birds :)

After adding clothes and finishing details I then took an 8" frame and, with my hubby's wood working skills, made a wood back, hand painted and attached it to the frame.

Then attached all the sculpted pieces to the Framed back drop and Here she is! Snow White in the Falling snow. No idea why she is dressed like that out in the snow but it's pretty at least LOL :D

This piece is going to be displayed in my Bay Auction Gallery at the Dragon Con Art Show in September :)
I have a few other framed sculptures planned before Dragon Con so keep checking my Blog and Face Book page for updates :)

Things to do in Atlanta this Father's Day Weekend!

HEY ART FANS!!!

Just wanted to do a quick blog to let you all know what I will be up to this weekend. My hubby and I will be at Sci-Fi Summer Con in Atlanta, I know, I know, it's Father's Day weekend...well Dad's like Art and Books and Sci-Fi so bring him along :)

I will have lots of prints and a few of my sculptures, my inventory is a little small at this show but I still have a few little guys that would love for someone to adopt them :) Not sure the exact location of our booth but I know we will be in the dealer room so make sure to come by and see us! :D

TAKE ALL DAY WHY DON’T CHA!?

Haven’t worked on my husband’s 2^nd Book cover in a long while but the last bit of the editing process has been completed so now we are just waiting on Me ooops so I figured I’d better get back to it. 

I finished the inking this weekend so now on to the coloring, I’m hoping it will only take a few days to complete Buuuuut things hardly ever go the way I plan sooo we’ll see LOL

I will post progress Photos as I color so keep checking my FaceBook page for updates :)

How-To Easter Center Piece

Got some crafting done last night YAY! :D
Made a fun Easter Center piece, it was really easy. All you need is some Easter decorations/accessories (works best if they have a long stem/stick) I got mine at the dollar store, YAY CHEAP ART! Some Craft Foam, you can get it at any Art Supplies Store and then a basket, I used a fun little wooden bucket that I found at a yard sale for a dollar WHOOT! Fill the bottom of your basket or bucket with the craft foam then just insert your Easter accessories into the foam as if you are making a flower bouquet, arrange them any way you like, Yep that’s all, it’s that simple to make a fun Easter Center piece.

When Pigs Fly...

Got another winged Myxie Pal for you all, a little Flying Piggy. 

This little piggy Totally made me want to go watch "Pigs in Spaaaaace" LOL he just completely reminded me of one of Jim Henson's Muppets :P

Looks like This little Piggy Flew to the market to get his roast beef, cause who would stay home when you can go WEEEEEEEEEEEE LOL  :)

DIY SNOW GLOBES!!!

Morning Everyone!
I have been working all week putting together a Baby Shower for my dear friend. She is having a sweet baby boy and since he is gonna be a Winter Baby, the Shower is going to have a Polar Bear/Snowy Theme! HOW CUTE!!!
So I decided a Fun project would be to make a few Snow Globes to use as center pieces. It was so much fun working on these so I thought I would share the process with you :) You can also find easy D.I.Y.s on Pintrest, that is where I got my “know how” from.
I started out with a little plastic empty snow globe. I found these at Michael's, they had them on sale after the holidays, but a Manson Jar or babyfood jar will work just as good.

Then I sculpted two sweet little Polymer Clay Polar Bears to go inside. If you aren’t feeling super artisty, don’t worry, small clay or plastic figurines you buy at almost any store will work just fine. In fact they have some at Michael's :)

Then affix your figurines to the base or lid of the globe. To do this, I first sanded down the base and bottom of my figure, a rough surface makes for a better hold. Then I used super glue to attach, but epoxy or gorilla glue works too. Let the glue dry over night.

Make sure the figure sits perfectly inside the globe before the next step…

Fill your globe with water, leaving just a small amount of room at the top, then add a tbsp of glycerin and a tbsp of glitter, then put more water until it touches the tippy top...if you don’t fill it all the way you will have an air bubble at the top of your globe, I still got a little one in mine but it’s hard to get it completely bubble free. Oooo Bubbles!

If you make this in a jar, you can then add glue to the inside rim and tightly screw your lid on and DONE!

I slowly pushed my figure and base into the globe (with help from my husband, he held the base for me, four hands is way better than two when working with a bowl filled with water and glitter, didn't want that all over my floor. Would've looked like my Mermaid Myxies had a party in my kitchen :P )
I dried it completely and then added gorilla glue to the opening of the base (again my hubby helped :) ) then we screwed the lid on tightly and left it over night drying before I turned it over.
You don't have to, but if you feel like adding some color to your base, paint the lid or do like I did and add festive tape to it and Modpodge the heck out of it :)

And BAM! POLAR BEAR SNOW GLOBES!!!

Simple Gift Ideas!

Looking for a simple gift idea for co-workers?

I picked up some cute sleigh baskets at Michael’s Art Store (btw all their Christmas stuff is 70% Off)

I added some colorful silk mistletoe plants, then filled a fabric gift bag with their favorite Goodies. I just put candy in mine but this would also be cute with cookies :) 

Then I finished it off with a Christmas Sticker that I made into a sweet gift tag, just poke a hole and string some thread through it. TA-DA a Fun easy Christmas Gift for under $7 :)

She was FRAMED!

Finished my Framed Polymer Clay Mushroom Myxie last night! Using a 3” Frame, I sculpted a sweet earthy Myxie and Plants right on to the frame. LOVE How she came out! It was so much fun too, I can’t wait to get started on another one.

Trying to think of a good name for her….I was considering Fern, or maybe Moss…what do you think?

Will be adding this piece to my Etsy store, for sell, shortly.

What's She up to Now?!

So just to tell you a little bit about what I am working on right now…I found these great little decorative frames, they range from 3 to 5 inches in size. I thought it would be nice to do a few original paintings and frame them to list on my Etsy Store. Buuuuuut then I had an epiphany while working on my recent Polymer Clay Pocket Watches. Why not do Framed Sculptures!? Oh yes, now Polymer Clay has joined the project, make way for all kinds of artistic possibilities LOL :)

Here’s a small sneak peek Photo of the one I am working on. I made a slew of these little leaves and mushrooms for my 1st Framed Sculpture.

The World Beyond the Gears

I finished another Pocket Watch with a Steampunk Myxie inside. This pocket watch lost the glass on the front, but I didn’t let that stop me…having no glass made it fun to make little hands gripping the sides of the metal and a small face peeking out. :)

Unlike my previous Pocket Watch Myxie, this one is not Trapped inside, rather she enjoys the comfort of her Pocket Watch Home. Occasionally she sticks her head out of the glassless window to peer out at the world beyond the gears. :D

Planning to make one or two more fun pocket watches this month and then I might move on to some other sculpting ideas I have tucked away in my mind. Keep checking my blog for updates!

To trap a Myxie...

Really excited about how my newest Steampunk Pocket Watch came out. It is so much harder to do a face when you are trying to make it flat, whilst still appearing 3D. I had to re-do her head about 3 times just to get it to fit inside the Pocket Watch. But I think she turned out really cute...and a bit worried, from her expression. :P

Myxies can bring you good luck but catching one is difficult, they are fast and clever. But as "Luck" would have it, this little Steampunk Myxie got trapped inside an old pocket watch, while trying to collect gears for her small gadgets. The wearer will have her safely near them, bringing them good luck all the time. Be sure you don't let her out, or she will be off, taking your luck with her. :)

THE DREADED CLOCTOPUS!!!

Decided I would work on a few more Steampunk Pocket Watches this month. I did a couple of little Steampunk Dragons in hollowed out Pocket Watches last year and they seemed to be a big hit so this time I am doing Steampunk Animal Myxie Pals! So far I only have two, an octopus and a seahorse, but they turned out really good. Next in the lineup will be a dragonfly and maybe a crab :)

EEEK GEMS, GLITTER, SHINY!!!

Hey Everyone! I was able to make a few new Myxie Dragon Pals recently. These are a little different than my normal Myxie Dragons, I have added some fun gems and glitter and shiny stuff to them. I think it gives them more of a whimsical feel, don’t you think? :)

DRAGON CON 2013!!!

IT’S HEEEERRRRREEEE!!! Dragon Con is this Friday. I’m packing up this afternoon and setting it all up Thursday. Then it’s Four Days of Wacky, Crazy, Nerdy, Geeky, FUN! As always I am excited and a bit nervous…never know what to expect at this Show…Will I get run over by the massive amount of Storm Troopers…or will they all be dressed as Spartans this year? Will I get into a conversation about My Little Ponies with a cosplayer of Slave Leia or Doctor Who? Will that Doctor Who be Matt Smith or Tennant? Will I run into John Barrowman on his way to the parade? Will the Police notice me tying Barrowman up and trying to stuff him into my trunk? All Good Questions that might be answered at DRAGON CON 2013!!! Make sure you all stop by to see me and my little Myxie Friends. Steampunk Dragons put on your going out Hats

OH BOY OH BOY! Dragon Con is almost here, only a few more days til the Art Show! As always I am no where near as ready as I wanted to be BUT I'm more ready than I expected to be...so that is good :) Anyway, I have been steadily cranking out Steampunk Dragon Pals and Steampunk Animal Myxie Pals, so I have a whole slew of them for the lovely fans at Dragon Con this year. Here are most of them, all ready and waiting to be adopted by some Steampunk Fantasy Nerd....just like me LOL
