COLORING BOOK IS HERE!!!

I have been working on something for the past few weeks and I am finally finished, so I can now tell you all about it and I hope you will be as excited as I am. :)
I have recently gotten inspired by the art of Henna(the body staining/temporary tattoo artform). I found it very soothing to sit and doodle the designs after a long day. Before I knew it, I had several illustrations finished and thought, These would be fun to color. So guess what I did, I MADE A COLORING BOOK YAY!!! The book is filled with fun Henna designs and lovely ladies to help relieve stress as you add color to each page.
The coloring book is currently at the printers and I'm hoping to have it available on my Etsy store and at any shows I am attending by the 2nd weekend of November. My next show will be at Lithia Springs Christmas Craftshow in GA Nov. 12th and 13th so come on by and get your copy. Can't wait that long? You don't have to, you can get my coloring book on Amazon.com right now! It has just become available today OH BOY!

Here's a look at the kind of designs you will find in my Coloring Book.

I am so very happy with how this project came out and I hope it will be relaxing and a fun way for the mature colorists to express themselves.
Thanks for reading everyone! Happy Coloring! :)

Searching for Treasures

My sister and her husband are expanding their little family through Adoption!
We are so very excited and they are getting everything ready but they need some help to make this possible. They are holding an Auction to help raise money. They have some great pieces for you to bid on, including a few pieces I donated to this awesome cause, a Teddy Bear handmade Sculpture and some matted Dragon Doodle Prints of mine.

My husband has also donated signed copies of his 1st and 2nd Book in his Winston and Baum Steampunk Adventure book series, along with Prints of the cover art. But THAT’S NOT ALL…My sister is amazingly talented with a sewing machine and has made some incredible quilts for you to bid on, any of these will make super gifts for the Holiday :)

Don’t feel like bidding and just want to get a piece now? Well you are in luck, my sister has an Etsy Store where she sells her wonderful purses and handmade bracelets.
Don’t want to buy anything but still would like to help, you can make a donation through the site Or if you can't donate, Share their page. Spreading the word helps just as much.

I cannot wait to meet the little angel that is able to Bless this sweet couple with your support, Thank you so much for helping a dream come true for this family :)

DIY SNOW GLOBES!!!

Morning Everyone!
I have been working all week putting together a Baby Shower for my dear friend. She is having a sweet baby boy and since he is gonna be a Winter Baby, the Shower is going to have a Polar Bear/Snowy Theme! HOW CUTE!!!
So I decided a Fun project would be to make a few Snow Globes to use as center pieces. It was so much fun working on these so I thought I would share the process with you :) You can also find easy D.I.Y.s on Pintrest, that is where I got my “know how” from.
I started out with a little plastic empty snow globe. I found these at Michael's, they had them on sale after the holidays, but a Manson Jar or babyfood jar will work just as good.

Then I sculpted two sweet little Polymer Clay Polar Bears to go inside. If you aren’t feeling super artisty, don’t worry, small clay or plastic figurines you buy at almost any store will work just fine. In fact they have some at Michael's :)

Then affix your figurines to the base or lid of the globe. To do this, I first sanded down the base and bottom of my figure, a rough surface makes for a better hold. Then I used super glue to attach, but epoxy or gorilla glue works too. Let the glue dry over night.

Make sure the figure sits perfectly inside the globe before the next step…

Fill your globe with water, leaving just a small amount of room at the top, then add a tbsp of glycerin and a tbsp of glitter, then put more water until it touches the tippy top...if you don’t fill it all the way you will have an air bubble at the top of your globe, I still got a little one in mine but it’s hard to get it completely bubble free. Oooo Bubbles!

If you make this in a jar, you can then add glue to the inside rim and tightly screw your lid on and DONE!

I slowly pushed my figure and base into the globe (with help from my husband, he held the base for me, four hands is way better than two when working with a bowl filled with water and glitter, didn't want that all over my floor. Would've looked like my Mermaid Myxies had a party in my kitchen :P )
I dried it completely and then added gorilla glue to the opening of the base (again my hubby helped :) ) then we screwed the lid on tightly and left it over night drying before I turned it over.
You don't have to, but if you feel like adding some color to your base, paint the lid or do like I did and add festive tape to it and Modpodge the heck out of it :)

And BAM! POLAR BEAR SNOW GLOBES!!!

Happy Crafting Everyone! Thanks for reading.

So Much yet so Little Time

I’ve been making a lot of progress lately. My husband and I just bought our first House WHOOT! and we will be moving in soon. With all the packing and unpacking that goes with moving into a new place, not to mention the painting and a million other things we will be doing, I am trying to get out as many Myxies as possible before the move. Dragon Con, the largest SiFi Convention in the Southeast, is coming up in September, and I want to have plenty of inventory by then. Even though I have made a nice dent in my to do Myxie list, I still have about 12 Myxies to complete. Considering each Myxie takes 2-3 days, I’m trying to hurry or I won’t be able to get them all finished. I have some really Fun Myxies planned too, Steampunk Witch, Pirate, Geisha, just to name a few. Also I plan on making many more Dragon Pals, including more Steampunk Dragon Pals. Going to try and get at least 2 more Myxies done before June…only have a few more days to do it in too…then I may take a few weeks off to get all the moving and house stuff out of the way. But I’m hoping all of that won’t take too long and I’ll be able to get back to sculpting. So there’s just a little update on things to come, Keep checking my blog for updates. GET BACK TO WORK!

I know I know, it took me long enough right but I finally got all my Sculptures in my Etsy Store….just in time for me to start making some new ones…oh boy. I AM looking forward to getting back to arting, though usually I go on hiatus after Dragon Con is done because I’m normally burned out on Art work. But No-Can-Do , every time I take a break my Etsy store gets cleaned out and I have to rush to fill it back up before the holidays so this year I’m not taking a break…ugh this should be fun. Okay Enough gripping, how about them new Myxies eh?

Oh I should also mention that I added a few new sections to my store so be sure to poke around :)

Thanks for reading everyone, hopefully I’ll have some more pieces for you to enjoy soon.

She's Done!

Oh Boy! She Death is all done, finished her up last week and took a few Photos…they aren’t great but I’ll post better ones once she comes back from the Photographer. I’m quite pleased with how she turned out, Very different from the Picture she was inspired by which makes me think I should probably come up with a different name for her…Nothing comes to mind though.

She Death was my last Auction Table Gallery piece, now I just have two little Myxies left and a few dragon pals for the booth and I’m completely finished and ready for Dragon Con…which is coming up very soon, Can’t wait to see you all there!

Stop complaining and get back to work!

Finished sewing She Death’s cloak last night. I used a dark brown for the fabric instead of traditional black, I thought it matched better with the gold on her clothes and Scythe. She actually came out looking like she is part of a Greek Mythology but she still looks really neat. Plus my husband said the Reaper was quite prevalent in most Greek Myths so I’m just going to say I purposely made her like that ;P
Her cloak was a bit of a tedious task because my little sewing machine wasn’t wanting to cooperate so I had to do it all by hand. The cloak is only about a 12x12 piece of fabric but it was still a good 3 hours of stitching…ugh not fun on my fingers.
Her Scythe was no picnic either. Since it is thin it was difficult to sculpt on one side without smooshing the other, so I was forced to continuously flip it back and forth so one side didn’t end up flat…still kind of happened that way though…doesn’t look bad so I’m okay with it. :)

Anyway, She Death should be completely finished tonight so I will hopefully have photos for you Monday, until then, I’ve posted a Photo of her Scythe for you to check out.

Sep. 2nd -5th mark it on your calendars People!

Wow, only a few more weeks until Dragon Con. I can’t believe how fast this year has gone. As always I had a huge pile of ideas that I was going to have done before the Art Show…and You guess it, I only completed about half. I should start making the list and then immediately cutting it in half, that way I’ll finish my entire list each year…Not a bad plan actually. :P
Despite all the ideas that will have to wait until next year, I do have a lot of great pieces lined up for this year’s Art Gallery. Three pieces I’m particularly excited about are my Steampunk Centaur, Masquerade Myxie and my She Death Sculpture that I am currently finishing up. These along with a few smaller Myxies will be displayed on the auction table in the Dragon Con Artist Gallery. I will also have a booth where I will be selling art prints and my new additions, Mystic Pendants. The Pendants are just something I tried out for fun and they’ve been a big hit.
Anyway I’m gonna get back to work so I can have everything ready for when it gets here in just a little over 3 WEEKS EKKK!!!

Juls Treasures

Hey Friends. Today I’m Blogging about a special artist that has just recently come on board the talent train. My sister just discovered her love of creating and NO, I’m not trying to win brownie points by saying this, her stuff is really cute! She has many crafts she is planning but the first pieces she has for sale are these fun, beaded bracelets. Each one she handmade with beads she personally selected…with great care. Trust me, I was there many times as she tediously handpicked each one with a delightful creation already in mind. Her asymmetrical style makes these especially unique. I posted a link so you could check out her work, Enjoy! http://www.etsy.com/shop/JulsTreasures?ref=seller_info Also check out these Etsy Treasuries she was featured in. http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4da1029020e46d919c15d7cf/make-mine-wine-a-pay-it-forward-treasury http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4d8a6c69e3528eeffbd2d735/the-secrets-within Thanks for reading. ~Caralyn
