Simple Gift Ideas!

Looking for a simple gift idea for co-workers?
I picked up some cute sleigh baskets at Michael’s Art Store (btw all their Christmas stuff is 70% Off)
I added some colorful silk mistletoe plants, then filled a fabric gift bag with their favorite Goodies. I just put candy in mine but this would also be cute with cookies :)
Then I finished it off with a Christmas Sticker that I made into a sweet gift tag, just poke a hole and string some thread through it. TA-DA a Fun easy Christmas Gift for under $7 :)

Merry Christmas Everyone!

She was FRAMED!

Finished my Framed Polymer Clay Mushroom Myxie last night! Using a 3” Frame, I sculpted a sweet earthy Myxie and Plants right on to the frame. LOVE How she came out! It was so much fun too, I can’t wait to get started on another one.
Trying to think of a good name for her….I was considering Fern, or maybe Moss…what do you think?
Will be adding this piece to my Etsy store, for sell, shortly.

Keep checking my Blog for my newest updates.

What's She up to Now?!

So just to tell you a little bit about what I am working on right now…I found these great little decorative frames, they range from 3 to 5 inches in size. I thought it would be nice to do a few original paintings and frame them to list on my Etsy Store. Buuuuuut then I had an epiphany while working on my recent Polymer Clay Pocket Watches. Why not do Framed Sculptures!? Oh yes, now Polymer Clay has joined the project, make way for all kinds of artistic possibilities LOL :)

Here’s a small sneak peek Photo of the one I am working on. I made a slew of these little leaves and mushrooms for my 1st Framed Sculpture.

Thanks for reading Everyone! Keep checking my Blog for what I'm working on next! :)

The World Beyond the Gears

I finished another Pocket Watch with a Steampunk Myxie inside. This pocket watch lost the glass on the front, but I didn’t let that stop me…having no glass made it fun to make little hands gripping the sides of the metal and a small face peeking out. :)

Unlike my previous Pocket Watch Myxie, this one is not Trapped inside, rather she enjoys the comfort of her Pocket Watch Home. Occasionally she sticks her head out of the glassless window to peer out at the world beyond the gears. :D

Planning to make one or two more fun pocket watches this month and then I might move on to some other sculpting ideas I have tucked away in my mind. Keep checking my blog for updates!

To trap a Myxie...

Really excited about how my newest Steampunk Pocket Watch came out. It is so much harder to do a face when you are trying to make it flat, whilst still appearing 3D. I had to re-do her head about 3 times just to get it to fit inside the Pocket Watch. But I think she turned out really cute...and a bit worried, from her expression. :P

Myxies can bring you good luck but catching one is difficult, they are fast and clever. But as "Luck" would have it, this little Steampunk Myxie got trapped inside an old pocket watch, while trying to collect gears for her small gadgets. The wearer will have her safely near them, bringing them good luck all the time. Be sure you don't let her out, or she will be off, taking your luck with her. :)

Decided I would work on a few more Steampunk Pocket Watches this month. I did a couple of little Steampunk Dragons in hollowed out Pocket Watches last year and they seemed to be a big hit so this time I am doing Steampunk Animal Myxie Pals! So far I only have two, an octopus and a seahorse, but they turned out really good. Next in the lineup will be a dragonfly and maybe a crab :)

I have also been adding my newest Prints to my Etsy store. Individually wrapped and matted 8x10s and 5x7 Prints.

Hey Everyone! I was able to make a few new Myxie Dragon Pals recently. These are a little different than my normal Myxie Dragons, I have added some fun gems and glitter and shiny stuff to them. I think it gives them more of a whimsical feel, don’t you think? :)
Anyway they were super fun to do, that I plan on sculpting a few more soon. Anyway, here are the little guys I’ve finished so far.

These new Myxie Dragon Pals are available on my Etsy Store. :)

Where Have I Been?!

Haven’t Blogged in a few weeks, I have been pretty busy trying to recover from Dragon Con. The Art Show was Great by the way. Probably our 2nd best year ever. I got to meet a lot of my Facebook Followers, it was so nice to be able to meet the Face behind the comments. Also I won an Award, My Goria Zombie Myxie won “Best Doll”, my 1st juried award I’ve ever received at Dragon Con, so that was super exciting. :)

I have finished adding the little Steampunk Dragons that didn’t go home with someone during the Art Show and will be adding the last few Animal Pals this week.
Now I’m trying to get my inventory back up, so for the next couple of weeks I will be sculpting new Steampunk Dragons and Animal Pals and hopefully coloring my newest sketches, along with a few others original pieces I have planned before the Holidays. As always, I have my schedule packed with all kinds of fun ideas, so here’s hoping I can get at least half of them done LOL :)

Also Check out this fun Etsy Treasury that two of my Dragons were featured in.
Thanks for reading, keep checking my Facebook page and Blog for my newest pieces.

DRAGON CON 2013!!!

IT’S HEEEERRRRREEEE!!! Dragon Con is this Friday. I’m packing up this afternoon and setting it all up Thursday. Then it’s Four Days of Wacky, Crazy, Nerdy, Geeky, FUN! As always I am excited and a bit nervous…never know what to expect at this Show…Will I get run over by the massive amount of Storm Troopers…or will they all be dressed as Spartans this year? Will I get into a conversation about My Little Ponies with a cosplayer of Slave Leia or Doctor Who? Will that Doctor Who be Matt Smith or Tennant? Will I run into John Barrowman on his way to the parade? Will the Police notice me tying Barrowman up and trying to stuff him into my trunk? All Good Questions that might be answered at DRAGON CON 2013!!! Make sure you all stop by to see me and my little Myxie Friends. The Art Show will be in the Hyatt Building and I will be somewhere along the back wall, just look for my Banner. Can’t wait to see you all there! :D Thanks for reading! ~Caralyn

Coin Operated Girl

Hey Everyone! Last Myxie before Dragon Con, which is in about two Weeks SO CLOSE!!! Really loved how this one turned out, that Red hair is what makes her so cute I think. She is attached to the little wooden block that TOOK FOREVER!!! I couldn’t get the letters the way I wanted…so I went with Shapes, and I think that actually fits her better :) I sculpted her with little joints (not real) and she has a wind-up key in her back, to give her the whole Toy theme. So what do ya think?
She is available on my Etsy Store So I still have alot to do but I'm getting ever closer to being ready for the Art show. Super excited about this year, I have a bunch of new prints, new sculptures and Fun New Banners so you can all be sure to find me :) Okay back to work, running out of time. This is what going Crazy feels like...I should know, it happens every Year

Jeeze, Dragon Con is so close now, only about a Month away...Still SOOOOOOO much to get done before then. I'm finishing up a few more Dragon Doodles, Pals and other small drawings, I plan to have small matted prints available at my Art Show booth this year.

I have to get 8x10 prints made fore some of my newer larger pieces too. I will have prints of the Steampunk Snow White and Wicked Queen, Alice's Tea Party...etc...
Also I'm finishing up, what will have to be my last Myxie, a wind up Doll, sitting on an alphabet block, I was initially going to sculpt at least two more for my Gallery, but I have run out of time.
And last but not least, I will spend as much of this month as I can, sculpting a slew of Dragons, Steampunk Dragons and Pals.
Keep your fingers crossed that I don't lose my sanity before the Show LOL :P

Step out of Wonderland

So she took FOREVER to finish cause I just couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do with her BUT I finally finished my Alice Myixe last night. Despite all the initial  setbacks, I am so happy with how she turned out. I kinda did a slight Steampunk theme but really I just wanted her to look like she just stepped out of Wonderland, with bits of that world clinging to her.

Alice in Wonderland Sculpture is now available on my Etsy Store.

Thanks for reading, Happy 4th Everyone!

Keeping Balance

Finished my newest circus Myxie! This little one is balancing a star cover Ball on her foot, I know she makes it look easy but it’s not…at least not for me, I guess I’ll just have to stick to sculpting and leave the acrobatics to the Myxies :)

This Balancing Ball Circus Myxie is available at my Etsy Store!
