Riding a Steampunk Carousel

I have always loved carousels ever since I was little and didn't have people yelling at me to get off and let the children have a turn...Who says adults can't go to carousels and ride while screaming that they are a princess...Annnywhoo
So I made my own carousel horse and due to my love of all things steampunky, I put a fun little twist to the traditional carousel ride. :)
It's all about dat base so that's what I started with, take several small wood circles, glue them together and drill a hole through the center. ( I got my husband to help with that part because I can't be trusted with power-tools.:P ) Then paint your base, I used white and gold.

Now for the main part. Sculpt a rough shape of your horse; I usually sculpt the body and limbs separate. After you finish the details on the face you then attach the limbs to the body with wire.

Then you can sculpt any more details to the piece. I usually sculpt pieces that stand freely but this sculpture was a little more challenging because I had to sculpt each part while it had a large wire through the center of it. Made it very difficult to put down, and figuring out how to bake my horse was another chore entirely.
Time to add the steampunky accessories! Using clay and metal jewelry and watch pieces I bring my steampunk carousel horse to life.
All Done! Despite the size of this sculpture, he almost looks like he could carry children around and around until they got sick. FUN!!! :D

I am super happy with how this piece came out, I would love to make a few more steampunk carousel animals but I am not sure if I will be able to with the up coming Dragon Con Art Show I will be attending in September.
Keep checking out my Blog and FaceBook page to see what all I will be working on as the show approaches. :)

Steampunk Cuties

That time again when I crank out new Steampunk Dragon Pals. My last few shows/conventions cleaned out my inventory on these lovable little critters, so I've been working on some brand new little darlings. :)
Here's what I've gotten done, I may work on new Steampunk animal pals for a bit but don't you worry, I'm not done with the fan favorites just yet. :)
Oh and by the way, I was accepted into the Dragon Con Art Show in September again this year so I will be sure to make plenty of these little guys before then. :)
Love the metal butterfly wings on this one.

Really fun colors on this little guy, the gold and the dark gray make such a nice contrast.

This little one is my favorite so far....don't tell the others ;P

I have posted most of these guys on my Etsy store, check out the link for my available pieces. :)

Cuteness Overload!

So I completely sold out on my sculpture inventory at the Dragon Con Art Show but never fear, I have been steadily working on some new little Steampunk Dragon Pals...and my goodness the cuteness factor is overwhelming LOL
You may have already seen them if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook but I'm going to post their sweet faces here too, just in case you missed 'em :)

Hoping to make a few more little guys but then I'm going to start on some new Steampunk animal pals, so keep watching my pages for photos.
Thanks everyone for reading!

The World Beyond the Gears

I finished another Pocket Watch with a Steampunk Myxie inside. This pocket watch lost the glass on the front, but I didn’t let that stop me…having no glass made it fun to make little hands gripping the sides of the metal and a small face peeking out. :)

Unlike my previous Pocket Watch Myxie, this one is not Trapped inside, rather she enjoys the comfort of her Pocket Watch Home. Occasionally she sticks her head out of the glassless window to peer out at the world beyond the gears. :D

Planning to make one or two more fun pocket watches this month and then I might move on to some other sculpting ideas I have tucked away in my mind. Keep checking my blog for updates!

Oooo So FOXY!

LOVED creating this little guy. He might be my favorite so far…though I still have a soft spot for the rabbit Myxie Pal I made…but making a Fox took a bit more time and it was fun painting all the bright colors on him.

This Steampunk Fox is available on my Etsy Store. https://www.etsy.com/listing/126188399/sly-fox-steampunk-myxie-pal

Planning another Fox soon ….since I enjoyed sculpting this one so much :)…. The next one will be a little more whimsical, very fantasy-esk but still Steampunky…and if none of that makes any since to you, than you will have to wait until I post a photo to see what I’m talking about :P

Thank for reading, keep checking my blog for updates on what I’m working on.

Keeping Time with the Sea

Newest Steampunk Myxie Pal…Steampunk Sea Turtle! Keeping time with the strong ocean current is easy when you have a clock on your back. Just remember to keep it plenty oiled so your gears don’t rust up in the salty water. LOL :)

Still working steadily on these adorable Steampunk Critters. I’m just enjoying sculpting them so much and I am so inspired right now, I don’t see any reason to stop just yet. So I’m going to bring you a few more of the Steampunk Myxie Pals until I run out of ideas or my Myxies make me stop and pay attention to them again LOL :P

ERMERGERD URKTERPUSH! ......LOL What?!

Newest Steampunk Myxie Pal, The CephaloCog....get it? Cephalopod….Cog for gears….ya get it.
Or you can just call it a Steampunk Octopus. He was so much fun to make, got all eight tentacles too…yes, I counted to make sure :)
and my husband helped me set up a Fun Ocean side set for this little guy’s photo shoot. https://www.etsy.com/listing/125704855/cephalo-cog-octopus-steampunk-myxie-pal

Really loving sculpting little steampunk animals but I think I may only do one or two more this month before I get back to some Dragons…don’t want them thinking I don’t love them anymore :P

Another Steampunker

Newest Steampunk Dragon Pal for sale on my Etsy Store. I really love this little guy, his colors came out so well, kinda honeyish, note the name "Honey Brass" and I think he is super cute with all his little screws. I hope you enjoy him as much as I do :)

STEAMTASTIC!

Added two brand new Steampunk Dragon pals to my Etsy Store. That’s’ right, I have started working on the fan-favorites again, with all their Steampunky goodness  :D
Past few months have been so hectic for me but I'm finally starting to get back to my normal routine enough that I was able to make these two little darlings last week. I won’t be able to get very many done this week, due to a much needed vacation I will be taking WHOOPWHOOP! But the following week I will hopefully be able to get a bunch more sculpted. So keep checking my Blog and Facebook page for updates. https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Mystic-Reflections/146566330160

Here are the listings for the Steampunk Dragons. Enjoy!
